Elegant-Traveling Earth Scarf

Inspiration

Have you ever looked at a piece of yarn and felt a wave of inspiration wash over you? That’s exactly what happened when I saw the color combination of Marigold and Milkweed yarn. I immediately saw the changing colors of autumn and was inspired to create something that would capture the season.

After trying different stitch combinations, I was so intrigued by the split cluster stitch. The way the clusters intertwine and split creates an intricate tapestry of stitches that is both visually stunning and fascinating to create. The combination of clusters and splits adds texture and depth, reminiscent of the changing seasons.

Designing a scarf using this stitch is not just about the end result; it's about the journey, the serenity, and the fulfillment that comes from creating something beautiful with my own hands. So far I am loving the end results of the scarf as it is not only cozy but also adds a touch of elegance to my outfits.

I am so grateful for the opportunity Shobha of Serendipitous Wool gave me to be part of the Traveling Earth Scarf Project. This is a scarf where 12 designers have combined their designs in creating one scarf. Each designer adds their pattern to the scarf every month bringing together 12 different designs of different color combinations.

My part, the Elegant Scarf, features a split cluster stitch. I love the color combination and the texture, which reminds me of the changing autumn leaves. I thank Shobha for the yarn and the beautiful color combination.

Yarn

I used Serendipitous Wool Mata Mini 100% Superwash Merino in Milkweed and Marigold. It is a weight 4 (worsted weight) yarn This is one of the softest yarns I have used. It is easy to work with and the color combination was excellent. It is so gentle on the skin and makes you feel so warm and cozy.

You can use any 100% Superwash merino wool worsted weight yarn. If you can’t find it then use your favorite worsted-weight yarn

Notes

  • The scarf is worked in rows

  • Ch 3 at the beginning of the row counts as a st.

  • Since this is a traveling scarf, there are no chains.

  • If you are making the scarf independently, ch 61 and start with sc in 2nd chain and each chain to the end, then continue with the pattern as written from 2nd row.

  • Since this scarf is part of a larger scarf, the length is short. Add more rows, alternating yarn until you make your desired length.
