Anaya Baby Blanket
Inspiration
Having a grandchild is the highlight of grandparents’ life. Amid all the excitement of welcoming the baby, you start thinking of what you are going to create for them. This wasn’t different when we learned that we were going to be grandparents again. I was so excited I couldn’t wait to start making something for the baby. At the time I did not know it was going to be a boy or a girl. I, therefore, decided to use the Bernat Baby Coordinates in Funny Prints since it is a neutral color suitable for either a boy or a girl. I wanted a textured blanket and that’s why I chose e a shell pattern. Finally, I like lace patterns and so I decided to put a touch of lace by using Solomon’s Knot pattern. Overall, I like the way it turned and look forward to my granddaughter enjoying it.

Yarn
I used Bernat Baby Coordinates Yarn for this blanket. I have used this yarn before to make blankets for my other grandchildren and loved it. The yarn is soft and has some shine to it that makes it look stylish and fashionable.

I used the We Crochet Mighty Stitch 80% Acrylic, 20% Superwash Wool 208 yds (192 m), 100 gm (3.5 oz). Thanks to WeCrochet for providing the yarn and made it possible for me to make this scarf. This is a worsted weight 4 yarn, and having used it before, I loved it and wanted to use it again. It is soft and easy to work with.

Special Stitch
Solomon’s Knot: Starting with one loop on the hook, draw this loop out to the desired length, thread over the hook, and draw through (as you would if you were making an ordinary chain stitch), but with the single back thread kept the same length as the first long loop, keeping the single back thread of the long-chain separate from the two front threads. Next, insert the hook under this single back thread. Wrap the thread over the hook again and draw a loop through. Wrap again and draw through both loops on the hook. You are essentially creating single crochet stitches separated by elongated openwork Love Knots.

Row 1: V-st in 4th ch from hook, *sk 3 chs, V-st in next ch, rep from * to last st, dc in last st, turn 12, (36, 48, 52, 60) V-sts.
Row 2: ch 3, *fpdc in next st, shell in ch-2 sp, fpdc in next st, rep from * to last st, dc in last st, turn, 12, (36, 48, 52, 60) shells.
Row 3: ch 2, V-st in ch-2 sp across to last st, dc in last st, turn 12, (36, 48, 52, 60) V-sts.

Attach border yarn to any of the corners
